I am a professional social media manager, a mum of 3 and I live just on the edge of the stunning Surrey Hills. I have a Diploma in Strategic Social Media Marketing from award-winning training provider Digital Mums and, on top of client work, am currently studying to be a Digital Mums Certified Social Media Trainer.
In my previous career I was a solicitor and worked for some of the world’s top law firms, including Clifford Chance LLP and Sidley Austin LLP. This experience has given me a strong grounding in business and client care, as well as a streak of perfectionism! I have a lot of experience of giving commercially focused advice to clients, as well as of legal marketing and practice development.
You might ask, why the career change? The short answer is, my life changed course completely ten years ago when my eldest son was born with quadriplegic cerebral palsy and epilepsy. I did go back to work for a year, but juggling long hours and weekends in the office with almost daily hospital and therapy appointments was never going to be manageable long term.
After two more children and a move out of London I decided to look for something different, which could fit around my family commitments. I was inspired by seeing what great social media could achieve for the businesses and causes that I cared about, and excited by the opportunity to do something more creative. I am also a big believer in lifelong-learning and non-linear career paths!
Some other things about me:
- I have an MA in history from Oxford University – which makes me a useful addition to a pub quiz team;
- I play steel pans and can occasionally be found performing at local fetes and festivities;
- I’m a total geek at heart (favourite TV shows – Doctor Who and Game of Thrones…) which may explain why I like hanging out on social media so much…
